WHAT IS EW?

WHAT IS E-WINSTON?

Surroundings of today’s world inspired the birth of E-Winston (EW), as the same tired stories were being heard, the same issues were a concern within communities, and the same end products were being delivered, that being not much change. Due to this it was sensed that something needed to be done that addressed the real and current issues we are faced with within our communities, and within a manner where we believed that people will take notice, hence EW was born.

It was felt that such issues could be addressed through bold, blatant and inquisitive art designs, more specifically with having such designs on clothing so that the concerns with the way of the world we are presently faced with could be exposed instantaneously to viewing eyes; and not only done so by the art delivered, but also with the accompanying message written as to what the specific art portrays (whether it be via a t-shirt, a poster, or EW website).  So wherever someone chooses to go with an EW tee on, or put a EW poster up, the design would always be exposing something in particular.

Thereby ‘exposure’ of a particular issue delivered via art would hopefully aid and serve as a vehicle to bring consciousness to a topic of concern. Through the art and meaning it is desired that awareness is brought upon the subject, and as such enlighten our thought processes and to think independently upon the matters presented. By providing consciousness and knowledge to the matter will hopefully serve to ‘educate’ and ‘elevate’ change for the better. This is why EW finds it ‘essential’ to support causes and organizations alike that are actively fighting for change within their communities, striving to provide exposure as to what causes are doing in order for change, in addition to providing a portion of sales from EW t-shirts and EW posters for causes that are making a difference within our neighborhoods.

So you now have more of an understanding as to why EW was formed, but why the name E-Winston you now ask? As EW represents the morals and values of EW, thus found it fitting to name the brand this. We all have the instinct to know right from wrong, good from bad, and joy from pain, yet due to external factors induced upon us within society it can sometimes become difficult to lead a sin free day (never mind a sin free life!) because of such influences, with which EW acknowledges and signifies via design.

We come into the world with ‘pure’ and clean free souls, yet our environment can shape us into what we are and from what we are exposed to, which undoubtedly will have effect upon us, whether it be mentally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually. However, this does not necessarily mean that we are moulded into being a certain type of person dependent upon our experiences, nor defines us as to ‘who’ we are, as the one freedom that we all do have is the choice to think independently for oneself, so ultimately it is a choice with the path that ‘you’ choose to lead.

This is why many designs tackle issues ‘head on’ that exhibit the struggles and temptations within life that can subsequently steer us off track of our goals and ambitions, having our own battles and wars with oneself as to speak, and dealing with our own real matters in life, whether it be with our society, with our friends, with our family, or solely with ourselves. Also we want to provide appreciation of the simplest things in life that we are fortunate to experience, as far too often such beauty of the simplest of things can often be overlooked, that is until it’s either gone momentarily, or gone forever. Consequently designs will be delivered that do not sugar coat issues, and that what you get through EW is ‘realization’. Matters that are ‘real’ to us.
